D-Rex
Can any of you confirm (or deny) that this is an RC-7 woofer. It doesn't look like the one in my RC-7 (mine has a solid metal covering over the magnets). So, what do you guys think? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5787113472&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Thanks, D
michael hurd
It does have a bucking magnet, but like you said, the shielding cup is missing. FWIW, it is the same as the 8" driver in the RF3II, that is in the RC7. K-1083-SB is the model# of the speaker. It is reasonably priced from Klipsch, so if you bid, don't overpay. D-Rex
Okay, I got it. I still don't know if it is truly an RC-7 woofer but I do think the metal plate around the magnet is the sheild to protect my TV from the magnet field. That makes sense to me, is that truly what it is? D
D-Rex
Thanks Mike! Yes, I have checked with Klipsch and a new one is only $58 with free shipping. I am now wondering if I can take the metal plate off mine and place it on this one that is missing the plate. Plus, since I have a set of RF3II's it wouldn't be bad to have an extra woofer just in case, if the price is right. Thanks, D
D-Rex
Seller says this woofer has a second magnet (the bucking magnet) that reverses the polarity to offset the driver's magnetic image that would affect the TV. Is this a step up from those that have the metal shield around the magnet? If I bought one new from Klipsch does anyone know which one I would be sent? Thanks, D
michael hurd
The metal shield is installed over top of the second bucking magnet, as a secondary measure. Without it, there will be a slight increase in the amount of stray magnetic field radiated.
