Doug,

Prefer bookshelf size. I do want to keep center and rears. Room is approx. 12x20. Sony prologic receiver, Sony S-360 DVD player, no CD player, JVC 32" TV. I'd like to spend $300 or less so I am considering used equipment.

Thanks for your reply.

Well, Randy, using the handy-dandy (I'm on a rhyming roll - somebody stop me!) Klipsch web site, I see that the matching speakers for the KSC-C1 are the KSB series: 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, and S1 surround. You can find these used, as they were recently (within the last 2 years) discontinued.

You can find this information on the Klipsch web page by floating your mouse over Home Audio then clicking on the Classic link. Scroll down the list to the KSC-C1, click on it, and voila -- there's your matching speaker list! Pretty handy, huh Randy!

P. S. I'm treading on thin ice here, but I have read on this board that some people feel that the Sony receivers MAY sound a little bright/harsh/hissy with Klipsch speakers. No personal experience myself, and I've read it depends on the model. Just passing it along.

Doug,

Thanks for the info. I'll start looking for reasonably priced used KSB 1 or 2's given the space I have to work with. Also thanks for the PS on the Sony receiver. I may replace it some time next year. Any suggestions on a moderately priced receiver?

If you're not going to look for a receiver until next year, hold off on specific model inquiries until then. They change about as fast as you change your socks. If you want to buy now, there are several models that have been superseded and, as such, can be found drastically discounted. Still good equipment, though. For example, check prices on the Denon 1601 and 1801 compared to their replacement 1602/1802.
