kentmjohnson
I just finished the in-wall wiring of my home theater system and was 5 ft short on one of the rear surround speakers. I have a 5ft piece I could splice onto it to make it work but I am pretty anal when it comes to running a clean system. So how bad would it be to do that? I would prefer not to have to buy another 100ft spool of monster cable for 5 feet but definitely will if its not a great idea. Thanks for the help! colterphoto1
solder and tape (or heat shrink -remember to slide tube on before soldering). It's not highly critical link in the audio chain.
kentmjohnson
Thanks for the reply. I will solder it today and drop it in the wall. They are insulating the room now so I am glad it's ok to splice. Thanks again.
formica
Yeah, no sonic difference... just don't tell your audiophile friends about it. They sometimes forget about the number of soldered joints there are inside both the speaker and the amp. Rob

THERE ARE, TELL US WHERE ARE THEY, all solder joints must be eradicated, or at least replaced with oxygen free silver solder!
