sane1
i have the 4.1s but sometimes when i play my cd files as well as mp3 files i get a crackling noise. Why is that and how does it happen? Also, it might be me but it seems as though my sub isn't as powerful as it once was. Kinda Seems like my speakers are thumping more than the sub. Maybe i didn't arrange my wires right or something or just maybe the sub(along with speakers) i got is just bad?
justin_tx_16
well, if your equalizer in your computer is set too high it maxes out... makes everything sound like AM radio on loud speakers... not a good sound. for my computer which seems to have it's EQ set kinda high, i use Media Jukebox as my MP3 Player and tell it's euqliaer to go to -2dB. this fixes it for me. just about ANY MP3 player has a EQ but WinAMP and MediaJukebox both have a PreAmp slider where you can go up and down by dB. I SUPER DOUPERLY (sounds gay i know.... ) recommend MediaJukebox for all of your media needs, except the MP3 player, does not have DTS... But it rips, burns, converts, opens, decodes, encodes, plays, records, etc, tons of different file formats, more than anyother program i think. it costs $24 and is so well worth it. http://musicex.com/mediajukebox/index.html ------------------ -justin I am an amateur, but if it is professional help you want email Amy or call her toll free: 1-888-554-5665 http://www.fortunecity.com/campus/berry/88/
sane1
thanx man. I also have a Creative Playcenter 2.0 that came with my sblive plat 5.1s would that work?
justin_tx_16
I personally avoid Play Center 2.0 like the plague. It lacks power, sound quality, and stability. WinAMP is free and is more stable and sounds better than PC2 but lacks CD Ripping and burning... MJ (Media Jukebox) is more stable, sounds better, and lacks nothing, only adds more and more little things. it's only downside is teh $24 tag.... even if you do not buy it, you can get a ton more features than the other two noted in this post. Media JukeBox beats out WinAMP in the sound quality and skins category because it can USE WinAMP plugins and skins, anything for WinAMP works with this player. Go download the trial, 30 Days, and then decide if you want to pay the money for it. They company is VERY nice, kinda like Klipsch, they have a BB also like klipsch and the support is great. post what you think about it here. ------------------ -justin I am an amateur, but if it is professional help you want email Amy or call her toll free: 1-888-554-5665 http://www.fortunecity.com/campus/berry/88/
sane1
Any other software players (would be nice if freeware) that can help me out?
splinter
yeaa Winamp is the king really. its light on the system. nice playlist convenient shortcuts make sure all the sound levels in software is around 80%. test it with various devices see if its really the speakers fault. sane1
what other plug-ins might help me out? does anybody know?
justin_tx_16
there are soooooo many plug ins... i could not tell you, most just improve bass but that is not needed with good mp3's and ProMedia speakers. You do not need bass, what you need is sometimes called Intelli-Volume. It is in Media Jukebox and two other players i have seen, just a built in DSP that puts real world limits on teh sound, nothing at like greater than 20,000Hz and nothing lower than say 27Hz. That way, you can not go too low and get distortion or too high. It has 4 settings, clip protection, adaptive passive/neutral/aggressive. i put mine on clip protection and never have these problems, i once did have them, this fixed it. Some sound cards can go to 30Khz, why? that is not a real world level, and 10 Hz?, you can really just feel that and not many speakers, only really really high end ones can hit that low... ------------------ -justin I am an amateur, but if it is professional help you want email Amy or call her toll free: 1-888-554-5665 http://www.fortunecity.com/campus/berry/88/
