mindflux
ive just finished setting up a home theater for a friend consisting of an onkyo tx-ds777, klipsch sc-1 (center), sb1 (front and rears), and ksw10 sub. the room is about 15 x 20 ft. the speakers sound great, but.....the sub is lacking big time. i have the sub hooked up with an 25 foot AR cable on the sub preout, and have tried just about every spot in the room...have tried low and high levels on the sub, have tried increasing the db on the receiver for the sub, everything...its getting on my nerves .... the sub is on a lightly carpeted floor, so i didnt think there would be a problem. im thinking of just getting a similar polk side firing sub. any comments or thoughts on what i should do? thanx for any feedback

TheEAR
Well its a 15*20 room,on the large side.As a last try put the sub where you would sit and play some movie or bass heavy music.Walk around and listen where you get the most bass. After you found the bassiest spot(without too much boomyness)place the sub there. Now listen. And yes Boa is right, use a Y on the sub.Now what?Bass is plenty? On a side note in a 15*20 room I would use at least a KSW15 sub. In my 10*14 foot room I have my HT system!LOL And 5 subs, the largest is the Revel B15(15" woofer,3 in peak to peak).I cant complain about bass.LOL Yes I think the KSW10 will have to work overtime even in the optimal position.Unless high output is not the norm.
