Underhanded Penguin
Hi guys I was just wondering if anybody knew the difference between the RF-3's and 5's. They use the exact same dual 8" woofers however the 5's have a slightly larger tractrix horn. The 5's are also 650$!! more than the 3's. So there must be some reason as to why the 5's are that expensive. Does naybody know? THX in advance. -UP ------------------ I love you Aki Ross! Guest BobG
The RF-5's are way prettier with their wood veneer and they have better bass. You should get some response from others who've compared. I'm biased.
TheEAR
BobG how could you? The RF-5's have a much better quality finish, its gorgeous. The finish is on all sides and very good looking, looks and feels real.LOL The binding posts on the back are the well spaced Monster Cable. The inside of the cabonet is covered with absorbing "foam" to minimise the cabinet vibrations(coloration). The overall sound is more smooth, the highs are no longer a bit edgy and you can blast these beauties with no fear to tear the eardrums! The bass is much better, hits low and no more nasty boomyness(well I exagerate here the RF-3 does not have NASTY boomy sound, just a bit boomy if too close to walls). I prefer the sound quality, built quality and looks(finish) of the RF-5's.I purchased a pair! This must tell you someting. And the RF-3's...I never wanted a pair home near my Dynaudio wonders. With the RB-3,RB-5,RF-5 and RF-7's Klipsch is on my best value list again! And So far I only wait for the RF-7,the only Klipsch in the list I dont have! So the RF-5 gets my vore, heck make this two votes. TheEAR(s) Now theears
forresthump
by my calculations you pay about 300 more for better sound and the other 300 for hype rf-3 vs 5.
TheEAR
Great calculations! LOL Sure the drivers dont cost much more,if at all.The cabinet costs more, the crossover and cabling costs more. And yes a bit probably goes to Klipsch for creating the RF-5.You always pay more just to get the brag brag rights. Still the extra helps with sound and looks, worth it. Oups t'was vote not vore...LOL Typos galore TheEAR(s) Now theears
