jheis
Anyone familiar with the Monitor Audio RSW12 - or how it might compare with the Velodyne SPL1000 or 1200? Thanks. James
LebanonKlipschFan
What led you to those choices if you don't mind me asking, and what is it you are looking for in a sub..
TheEAR
The new Monitor Audio RSW12 is a great quality minisub, clean and goes quite deep.Built like a rock, the cabinet, drivera nd amp are first rate. The Velodyne SPL1000 a goes a little bit deeper louder. Overall a tough choice, when all the qualities are faults are compiled. Your choice, both are quality products.
jheis
Thanks Arthur: Nice to know. The Monitor Audio and the Velodynes are available as floor sample/demo's at my local GoonGuys. I wasn't really in the market for a sub with Cornwalls backing La Scalas, but with a liquidation sale going on, I need to buy something. So far, the GoonGuys haven't gotten serious about discounting, but time is on my side. I don't need to buy, but they need to sell. Lebanon: I think that explains the choices I inquired about. By the way, is that Lebanon, Lebanon - or Lebanon, Pennsylvania? James
Guest BobG
One of the reasons Klipsch does not produce mini subs is that while they can be designed to go deep, they cannot go deep while at the same time having enough output and dynamic range to keep up with high sensitivity, wide dynamic range speakers. I would encourage you to have the option to return a sub that you plan to mate with Cornwalls or La Scalas.
jheis
Thanks Bob: I'm quite happy with my system and haven't noticed that I'm suffering from any lack of bass. I think I'd kind of bought into the "group think" that I need to have a sub. I listen to mostly jazz - very few movies. I Just picked up copies of SuperBass and SuperBass 2 by Ray Brown with John Clayton & Christian McBride. Seems to me like I've got plenty of bass. However, if I can pick up a decent sub for not too much money, why not? (Haven't bought anything for a couple of weeks and need a treat.) TheEAR
BobG, Ahem, the Sunfire Signature stands toe to toe with teh RSW15 on deep bass.I guess the RSW15 cannot keep up with high sensitivity RF7's. [] Yes I know the Sunfire Sig. is the most potent micro sub made. WAIT right here Bob,since you grace us with your divine presence...where is my Premiere series sub and mains? ME WANT bad,you know I have a set of tenor Audio amps that await deserving matching speakers. []
