gally1998
I am currently building a home theater and am just now starting to look for speakers. I am leaning torward Swan, Paradigm or Klipsch for the mains, center, and surrounds with an SVS 20-39 for the sub. However, I noticed a review for BIC Acoustech that compared favorably to Klipsch: http://www.audaud.com/audaud/MAR04/component/comp1.html Have any of you heard the Acoustech system, and if so; what did you think? gally1998
Never mind... I saw the other threads.... Still interested if anyone has actually heard them....
jzoz01
They're basicly an internet version of the "white van" speakers.
modestm
Really? can you elaborate in how you came to that conclusion?
jzoz01
They look kinda like Klipsch. There is some cheesy website that has a fake review of them claiming they are just like klipsch only sound better and are less expensive. They are just a cheapo set of speakers trying to make a buck off of Klipsch's brand recognition. There have been quite a few threads about them to date. [] I've had good experiences with both Paradigm and Klipsch at their respective price points. I haven't auditioned the BICs, but I do question the spec's which clearly defy Hoffman's iron law... there is no free lunch when it comes to physics. In my opinion, main speakers are the most important component of your system, and should be auditioned before buying. ROb
LebanonKlipschFan
BIC a long long time ago used to be a competent company. They have now gone the wayside like an avacado green stove.I have seen and heard them, and they are not worth the paint for the plastic drivers. They sounded thin, and boomy. The highs sounded like they were a papercone car speaker. The crossovers are on a plasitic board with tin traces. They are absolute garbage. Find the person who gave the review and turn on their hearing aid. These are the worst speakers i have seen next to the SDAT, and Digital Audio. Zealot125
"Midrange reproduction was accurate and crisp, but bass was severely lacking, which is surprising given the Reference series significant cabinet depth. Perhaps its horn tweeter system is so strong that the woofers are simply overpowered. Whatever the cause, there is a noticeable hole in their frequency response and a powered subwoofer is a definite necessity with the Klipsch Reference speakers I reviewed. The lack of bass problem notwithstanding, the Reference series speakers have exceptional dynamic range." I dont know what they listened to, but I KNOW that when set up correctly, RF-7s will knock the snot out of your nose with bass.
