TheEAR Posted October 14, 2001 Share Posted October 14, 2001 The ProMedia multimedia speakers are rated in MBO or Maximum Burst Output(if I remember what DanF said). 200,400 and 500W RMS rated amps would cost much more and would have to use some large heatsinks.Even with MBO the ProMedias can hit hard and have good sound quality for the price. MBO is not to be compared to PMPO.PMPO stands for Pretty Meaningless Power Output(just joking). What is not a joke is that PMPO is legal ripoff,PMPO is born of marketing.Any speaker rated in PMPO should be avoided at all costs.PMPO ratings are gross and there is no standard with PMPO.
