ajsons
Little Al (awsjr), Why not? Dogs can do that!!! Big Al (Al K.), I remember when the ALK's first came out, you made a list for forum members of ways to reduce the cost of the ALK's without sacrificing performance. I just did a rough cost estimate for the ESN....Can you do the same thing for it? Por favor? Al S. (Armando)
Al Klappenberger
Awsjr, OPPS! I should have croped off the pillows! Sorry! Armando, Most of the cost saving in the Universal network was replacing the Hovland caps with Solen Fastcaps. The values are so large in the ES woofer / squawker networks that you can't get them in Hovlands, so there isn't much left to cut! I'll give it some though though. Al K. ajsons
Thanks, Al. The good news is I stll have left-over parts from the ALK crossover build...wires, solder terminals, screws, wire ties...etc. I learned a lot from that too, (soldring litz wires, proper coil placement, parts layout..etc.) It gets you ready for a larger project..the ESN's. So, I'm ready, can't say the same thing for my wallet! LOL!
Al Klappenberger
Armando, I looked over the ES designs and there just sin't much you can cut corners on. Sharp filter slopes depend on quality parts. The only possibility is to build one of the netwroks with a higher frequency crossover. The part values are small and will cost a bit less, but not by much! Al K.
ajsons
That's OK. I know it will be worth it.
