A 125watt amp will give a big jump in improvement over a receiver. I would look at a 5 channel for now and use the receiver amps for the rears. This will save you some big bucks. Also it will save you lots on money. If I ran the receiver amp to run the rears, would it be as simple as adjusting the gain on the receiver to match the SPL coming from the other 5? easylistener Posted January 24, 2006 Share Posted January 24, 2006 You are correct. You use the receiver to control the gains of the other channels. I did this and am still doing it. I run a rotel 380 watt 2 channel amp with there 5 channel 200 watt amp. It works great and it lets you save some money for the upgrade bug later.
