I am on a budget and want to spend the money where it will make the most difference. Is it better to spend the money on power tubes, rectifier, etc? 126mhz Posted February 11, 2006 Share Posted February 11, 2006 I don't own and have never ran a Mac 240 but I have been using a matched quad of JJ 6V6's in my 1961 Ampex Mono Blocks with GREAT results. I have a matched quad of JJ's in both my Scott 299D as well as in my Dynaco ST70 and I love the sound. They are reasonable in terms of price and they perform well for me. The first 12ax7 on your left should get a really nice old Telefunken or Mullard--that's the most important one.
