chops
So mOOn, how far have you been able to get on this little project so far? Just curious to see what your new cabs are going to look like. BTW, I'm back to using my dad's old '78 Cornwall II's.
Jay L
i did this same thing about a year ago. i installed the woofer in the rear, and mounted the tweeter, and mid on the top. the existing CW1 midrange hole is about 1/16th of an inch too small. the tweeter, well that was a pain kinda. i used a gasket pattern from my klf-20 to cut out the hole. it wasn't perfect, i had to massage it some more. couple hours work and it looks fine to me. BTW, I'm back to using my dad's old '78 Cornwall II's. I've sanded them... (bout 3 weeks ago) I did buy a big chunk of red oak about 2 weeks ago to make my own veneer and there it sits. Maaaaaaaaaaaan.... I lost my UMPH for some reason. The last few weeks I come home from work and I've been too tired to work on them, and the weekends have been really busy. I havn't lost interest really, just lost desire to keep moving after the kids go to bed. It used to be where after the kiddies would go to bed, I'd still be wide awake and ready to go pudder in the shop and what not, but not so much these days. I think age is catching up. I turn 39 next month. I'm getting so old I fart dust. On another note though, the rest of my caps for my crossovers should be getting here today. UPS has not dropped them off yet, but should be any time.
chops
I know the feeling. Here lately I've been getting tired early as well and starting to doze off before 11pm. Up until a couple of months ago, I was staying up to about 1-1:30 in the morning without even thinking about it. Granted, I don't have kids (or a wife for that matter), and I'm not quite farting dust yet, but I'm starting to feel the age creeping up on me, and I'll only be 31 in June! And as far as getting on with projects, I still have three 15" Dayton drivers sitting in their cardboard boxes waiting for me to mate them up with another Dayton 15 that I've had for a while now. I need to build two 12 cubuc ft ported enclosures tuned to 12Hz for these things, but I just don't have the energy to get up and do it. Plus the fact that the only way I have to do any cutting is with a stinkin' jig saw outdoors which turns me off anyway. Do you have any idea how long it takes to cut 1" MDF with a jig saw?! Ugg.[:'(]
