receiver that won't overpower

I am starting from the ground up...

pair of Synergy SF-1s

Now, the next step to find a receiver that will fill them out. I

am leaning toward HK or Denon from research and past experience.

The SF-1 are rated at 100 W by Klipsch. I know I don't want the

fanciest megawattage unit but I was thinking since I don't have a fancy

HDTV, maybe a used receiver like a HK AVR 3xx (335,330,etc). I

would like to have outputs for a second room and the ability to handle

most DVD audio. I am not so worried about the video perf (I know

I'm not investing in HDMI stuff very soon). I am not quite as

familiar with the recent Denon product lines- would a 3801 be

comparable to a HK 3xx or 4xx? Thanks for any advice!

BTW- saving dinero on the receiver leaves room for the needed center

channel and sub (I hope) but that's probably another post...

Harmon Kardon tends to under rate wattage as opposed to sony and others that overrate them

Sony, Sansui,Harmon Kardon, Pioneer, Yamaha; they are all the is the same, just a different name. It comes down to SS vs Tubes, that is the real choice. Which is best? It's up to the buyer. Now that I think about it, I miss my Kenwood intergrated Amp, should never have sold it.

PS: I always wanted Macintosh Equipment,(now owned by Marantz) but, can't afford it.

I would highly disagree.....

SS can sound just as good

Also each company has a very big difference. Would you make the same comparison to TV oh wait Samsung makes 9 out of 10 lcds....... not only for their own company but others as well

Samsung didn't make my Panasonic Flat Screen. My point on the receivers was, they basically sound the same if they're SS. The only

difference is in the power. SS sounds one way, Tubes sound another, and that's the choice, which sound is more pleasing to you, SS or Tubes. I own a SS Sony, and I am happy with it, but I also have heard Mac's, and Scott tubes that also sounded great. You Know, maybe it's the Klipsch speakers that count most, and the power unit is not as important.

yes the speakers are the biggest factor in music. But the source and

amp are too.... SS do sound different, try comparing a yamaha with a

harmon kardon. Samsung makes and sell to other lcd screen companies.

Its done everywhere, most tv companies outsource parts and stuff.....

My dell computer monitor has a big trinitron label on there..... there

is only one company that makes trinitron and that is sony.

Also I remember forum member rttr showing me a magazine where they

tested the rated wattage of some hk recievers and they did about 20

more watts over the stated.
