WMcD
[Edit: The attachment didn't go through the first time, or I messed up. It is two panes below. Sorry about that, Chief."] Here is an article on a new device for testing and analysis, the Sound Strobe. The article has information on the relation between various impluse forms (Time) and the resulting frequencies (1/Time). On another matter: The author describes how he fed a small speaker with bursts of 450 watts of peak power which had an average power of 0.11 watts (there were off times between the bursts). The devices survived. Perceived loundess was closer to the 113 peak dB SPL than the 77 dB average SPL. This is a bit of information relative to the ongoing debate over what kills drivers and how much headroom should be accounted for. The file is 1.4 MB. That is with about as much compression in Adobie that it would stand. I know it is still fairly large for those here with dial-up networks. BTW the oscilloscope pictures didn't show up much better in the uncompressed 16 MB file. Best, Gil
