thebes
Now I do try to take pains to recommend music I've "vetted" thorougly to make sure those who might acquire a suggestion that at the very laest the recording quality is top notch. I'm going out on a limb this week by suggesting something I've never actually heard, but hope to have in hand by next weekend. Format's simple: Name of artist or group, name of album, type of music as best you can (rock, blues etc.), and recording format (cd, lp etc.) As usual I'll start it off with: Grace Griffith, "My Life",cd, celtic and contemporary folk singing Grace Griffith is a local artist suffering from Parkinson's and this may be her last release since an upcoming operation may ruin her voice. If it wasn't for her we probably wouldn't have Eva Cassidy to listen to, since she turned her on to her label Blix Street Records. There's an excellent article on her in yesterday's Washington Post that I will try to a post a link to, so you can learn more. Blix Street Records does absolutely superb work and her reputation as a songstress is top-notch. Here's the link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/04/AR2006030401316.html So what do you have to offer this week? oldbuckster
WHAT'S GOING ON; MARVIN GAYE; What happens when Soul music gets a touch of protest. This piece of work is as fresh today, as it was during the Viet-Nam era. A beautiful piece of work from a gifted singer and perfomer who left us way before his time. I very rarely use the word beautiful in describing a disc, but I must in this case. Mind you classic rock is my area, but every now and then one needs a break, and this disc is like a breath of fresh air.Smooth, Sexy, and Soulful, what more can I say? Jay481985
I saw on PBS a group called Celtic Woman and they sing celtic (irish) type folk music if your into that but they sound angelic like. I brought the cd around 10 dollars on walmart.com and have enjoyed it. I mean great vocals, instrumental, really makes the klipsch shine!
