Software to burn only parts of tracks on CD's

Recommended Posts

Well you can use most cd burn programs, I like nero to burn select

files. First you want to rip the cd (ripping means taking the

information and storing it on the hard drive) but rip it at .wav

quality (same compression as cd well it is not really compressed) and

then individually placing songs in the order you want.

Well there really isn't any way to rip just part of a track from a CD,

so you will need to use a wave editor of some kind. Here is a very

functionaly free one:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

What you need to do is rip the entire track of the CD to a .wav

file. Open

the file in audacity and then chop up the song (basically just delete

everything after 1:29). When you're finished, save it to a new .wav

file and then just use your normal CD burning software to put your file

onto an audio CD. (you probably already know this, but don't

accidentally create a data disc)

If you have a Mac you can use garage band...just rip the CD, then use the numerous tools to clip the track, fade in and out etc...then burn your project.

For PC there are several programs. Roxio and Nero both make decent programs, but I have lately been using Magix Music Maker. It has an 8 track sequencer and will allow you to add all kinds of effects to whatever clip you want to use. A pretty slick program for around $50.
