oldenough
Hi all,i was wondering if any off the DIY members had tackled the job of replacing rotted out surrounds, and would they recommend this job to an adept handyman, or is this best left to an expert? It is NOT a pair of Klipsch speakers but a pair of Marantz DS 930 12" woofers. Thanks in advance.[]

oldenough
Well...That was a satisfying project. I worked slowly and carefully, and the results are well worth the effort, and...much less than the $129 per speaker quoted by the experts. The latter being the reason i thought the job might entail more work than i would be able to handle. It was important to me that these speakers were repaired but did'nt look as though they had been, mission accomplished, hope this helps anyone thinking of tackling this project. Klipschguy
Yeah, it's not too bad. I did a pair of "free" 901's one time. Eighteen drivers! It came out fine, but was not worth my time for the $250 they were immediately sold for.
