kde
I just purchased a SPL meter from Radio Shack -- in hopes of improving the sound of my system. Are they pretty easy to use? Any advice?

coreyc
I guess it depends if you want to set speaker levels or plot freq response. "Easy" is a good word for speaker level, but "Tedious" is a better word for measuring freq response. You can level match with just white noise from each speaker, but to do freq response you have to record SPL for a series of test tones. Rives Audio has tones matched to the RS meter, but I think you can also just look up the db/hz off-sets & make your own tones.
kde
The Rives Audio test cd looks pretty interesting -- thanks for the link. Does this basically d the same thing as the Avia cd does, just at a higher level? Also, the Rives Audio model mentioned it is designed for use with the RS analog SPL. Does it also work with the digital RS SPL? Is there a product just for the digital model?
Jay481985
I would just hook it up to my computer and use nch tone generator which is a free program that puts out specific test tones.
