colterphoto1
Oh, sorry, got sidetracked. Very good recording and enjoyable remakes of lots of IGB and Gillan tracks. I just finished making a two-fer CD with the original recording of several of the songs then the Inn version. Makes for some fun comparisons. Bluesy Blue Sea is my favorite. When A Blind Man Cries is excellent. I don't care for the remake of the gtr/org leads on Speed King however- shoulda left that one alone. The 5.1 mix is very cool. On one track there are two Hammond organs one front right, one rear left, so you're left sitting in the middle of this giant whirlpool of Leslie cabinets. Very cool. There is not much over-gimmicky use of the surround channels, it sounds natural and full. I think it's a fun listen. Video wise, there isnt' much, some silly gripngrin shots during recording (why not real photos of musicians at work?) and a couple of fair quality bootleg vids. But they did have one with Joe Satriani doing his best Ritchie impersonation. Enjoyable. Toolbox is still my fave Gillan CD though. I'd give it a B+, but its' really a good value for the dollar. Go get it.
