formica
Shopping for my projector has got me thinking about my DVD player (I have the "well regarded in it's time" Panasonic RP82) ... Given I need to buy new 25' long cables for the projector... would I be better off getting a inexpensive DVD player which has upscaling and HDMI or DVI-I output so that I can simply buy cables once? It seems wasteful to buy 75$ component cables ... to replace them with a HDMI cable (or DVI) once HD-DVD takes hold? I was thinking in line of the OPPO OPDV971H or am I better off with something like the Neodigits Helios? Opinions? ROb
ccsakura
My votes for Oppo~ I run a 15' DVI cable for video as well and it works perfectly fine. Plus the quality that the price offer. I nevre take a look at anywhere $500+ DVD player but anywhere below that can't beat it. Some people would do it for the best <$1000 player. Do a google search you will find a lot of reviews around
formica
My votes for Oppo ... Plus the quality that the price offer. Yeah, that does seem to be the consensus... bang for the buck. OTOH there are very few "official" Helios reviews out so i'm not really sure how it stacks up. Surprised there isn't more opinions on these here at Klipsch... I've found a place that has the Oppo and the projector i want stock... so i may just go that route... and benefit from the upscaler. [] I can see how this can become a slippery slope... as i'll need a HDMI switcher soon, given the HDTV receiver i want also uses that interface.
