damonrpayne
The one thing that could sway me away from the BluRay camp: the LOTR trilogy looks like its announced for HD-DVD according to this month's Sound and Vision. If its the extended editions, guess I'll get me a player.
MrMcGoo
The release dates and details of most HD DVDs is a closely guarded secret. Announcements come out about a week prior to sale. Most folks think that the LOTR trilogy will be released about the time that Blu-ray comes out in June. I doubt that the version will be the extended version. Hollywood is greedy and will want to sell both versions.[] Bill
damonrpayne
Which of the big players is it that owns New Line Cinema?
MrMcGoo
Time Warner owns New Line. Warner is the one that gives a week's notice on the new titles. Warner is in both the Blu-ray and HD DVD camps, but primarily supports HD DVD due to lower costs and competitive advantage over Sony.
