tthurston4
One of my coworkers is in the market for a home theater setup and I thought I should run it by some of you. His room is 24X14 with a budget around $2,500 (just for speakers and receiver). I was thinking the Cinema 10 or Cinema 8 as decent candidates, but will those little satellites fill a room of this size?
dantfmly
I don't think that will be large enough. I would go with RF-62, RC-62, RS-52, RW-12 klipsh suggested setup, I think that will fit within that budget and still have room left over for a hal way decent reciever. Check you nearest dealer to find out.

You can get a lot more for your money than those recommendations. If I had that budget, this is what I would buy......... RF-62 fronts...........$550 RF-52 surrounds.....$450 RF-62 center..........$350 SVS-PB12 NSD/v....$700 Receiver.................$500 (many good choices in this range) For $2500, it would be awfully hard to beat the sound of the above system. Those prices are for the cost of each speaker, not the pair...so you're over by about $1k. I would actually be more inclined to recommend the entire Klipsch Synergy Package: F3 - $700 / pair C3 - $263 S3 - $360 / pair x 2 = $720 Sub-12 - $412 which leaves $405 for the reciever (Denon AVR-1706?) If he wants to save some money he can just go with a single pair of surrounds for 5.

Do you pay full retail when you shop? I own some of those speakers, so some of those prices I listed are actual prices I paid. The only item I guessed a street price was the RF-62s. I based my guess on the fact that I paid $750(1,000 retail) for a pair of RF82s, so I figured $550 should be within reach for lower model.(rf62s)
DrWho
Wow...I totally misread the pricing sheet. Sorry about that. And here's a good link about the CES show for anyone intersted (which also includes the MSRP): http://www.cnet.com/4831-11405_1-6413283.html You can expect at least 15% off the MSRP.
