gigbyt
I picked up a pair of original owner 1978 vintage heresy's on friday night. 300.00 bux!!!!!!!!!! they are in great condition the drivers look excellent. found them on craigslist. I currently have a pair of ksb 3.1's which sound good, but the heresys are so much better even though they are 28 years old. I have them hooked up to a crown k2 amp i picked up recently and they sound much better than when hooked up to my receiver (sony db830 [:$]). i'll be using the crown for a subwoofer that im going to be building. what is a decent amp to drive the heresy's with that wont break the bank? i'm thinking 200-300 dollars. Listened to eagles HFO DTS and some clapton and am very pleased with these old speakers []
oldbuckster
Good deal, really $300. for a pair of Heresy's is a good deal, Was it worth the wait? of course it was.............If you don't own a sub, take your time, run them without one for awhile, you might like it..........as far as an amp, for the money you mentioned, I doubt if you will find tubes for that, but there should be many SS intergrated out there..........take your time, have fun, and enjoy what you have............... gigbyt
Thanx, i got them here http://boston.craigslist.org/ele/187691521.html. i offered him 300.00 and he said if i could come right away he would take it. he was only about 35 miles from me so i shot down there as quickly as i could,LOL. So far all music i've listened to with them sounds much better, clearer, fuller, and easily much louder with little input of volume control. I cant wait to find a pair of La scalas or Cornwalls now !!!.
scott0527
I like my Heresey's on the floor, close to the wall. If you can get them close to a corner, all the better. I get a very pleasant musical bass. Mine are on the small risers angled slightly upward. Congratulations on your pickup.
whamo
They will sound even better when you replace the old caps in the crossover networks. This is highly recommended and it is cheap to do as well. Do you have basic soldering skills? Congrats on your recent find! Mark

whamo
Well the caps can be obtained from many places. I would recommend Bob Crites (he's a forum member that will help you get the caps and guide you). Or you can get them from partsexpress.com. Or Grainger's has them. Bob has the GE type though. When the search function on the forum works there are many tutorials with pics to help you, also myself or any other forum member can help you it's pretty straight up stuff. As far as the sound goes I believe the sound is more dynamic and the bass a tad more pronounced. At any rate your heresys will be up to spec as they were when they were born. I upgraded my cornwalls with Bob's GE caps. I also upgraded my heresy caps but used the grainger chinese caps. The heresys proved to be more of an improvement in my opinion I don't know why. There are many other improvements to be made too like room placement room treatments the list of fun is never ending! Good luck, Mark
