synthfreek
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been using 2 center channel speakers for quite a while & would like some input as to whether or not they are hooked up correctly. They are Dynaco A-10/V II's. I have always had them hooked up in series. Center positive from receiver to one speaker's positive. From that speaker's negative to the other's positive and finally from that speaker's negative back to the receiver's center negative. Is this correct? Should I wire 'em up parallel instead? Since these are 8 ohm speakers they should be running at 4 ohms now correct? What if they were parallel? Do I really need to drop the ohms on my 1050 to 4 the way it is? Hopefully soon I'll be able to track down the Klipsch KG 2.2V center and just ditch the Dynacos. Did I ask too many questions?
avman
i beleive you're at 16 ohms now, if you go to parallel, you'll get 4 ohms. be sure your center amp is 4 ohm stable, and you'll probably have to adjust the output level. avman. ray g.-howd i do? ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 32"tv and sharp xv-z1u lcd projector panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a 'teens' sub coming!(RSW-15 LOOKIN'GOOD!) synthfreek
That was unbelievably quick Avman. But just what are the benefits of the different ways to wire it up? Since my Klipsch are so efficient would wiring the centers in speaker yield a "louder" result to more closely match my KGs?
avman
your amp, if 4 ohm stable, will output more power, (probably double-or more) than your current hookup. this should bring the center volume up. hope you can find the klipsch center soon. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 32"tv and sharp xv-z1u lcd projector panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a 'teens' sub coming!(RSW-15 LOOKIN'GOOD!) T2K
Use one center speaker for best results. Keith
