BobbyB99
Hello and happy holidays. I own Klipsch 5.1 speakers and starting a few days ago I started hearing a static noise, off and on, from my speakers. I thought the problem is my sound card but that is not the case. I installed my old sound card and still have the problem. In fact, I have the same problem when no sound card is installed. I have always taken of my speakers, meaning I have never fooled around with them. I have never blasted my pc's speakers either. What might be the problem? I'm very nervous that my speakers just decided to die for no reason whatsoever.
pauln
On -off behavior sounds like a connection - check the easy stuff first in the signal chain (connectors, cables, wires). Both speakers? Its not likely to be the speakers...
BobbyB99
Already checked all the connections and everything looks fine. The noise, hum, static is heard from all speakers.
Moderators dtel Posted December 22, 2006 Moderators Share Posted December 22, 2006 No way all 6 speakers would go out at the same time, it would have to be something else ! I know that is not much help but you have to start to eliminate one thing at a time.
BobbyB99
Agreed. Which is why I thought it was my sound card gone bad.
pauln
Interesting - static niose is only during music play? or other times, too??
jheis
You'll probably get a better response if you post in the Pro-Media 5.1 section.
BobbyB99
I took the last poster's advice and posted in the 5.1 section. We will see if that does any good since I just read a few threads from owners having the same problem. The hum happens on and off just from being on. The problem isn't my sound card and it's not any application I'm using. I'm very frustrated. At this moment I'm not in a position to buy new speakers. Surround me with sound
I too have the pro media 5.1 ultra speakers on my computer. In the last month I have been experiencing the same static (crackles) in all of the speakers. I too have checked all of the connections and the sound card but the problem persists. I will be following this post.
m115919h
If there is static in all the speakers the problem is coming from the amp. Unfortunately, this problem is not uncommon with the promedia speakers.
