Earle Decker
I have been thinking about replacing my surrounds, currently KSB3.1's with a pair of the 8.5's. I would then move the KSB 3.1's to the rear center location. Does anyone have any thoughts on these speakers? I can get them for under $300 a pair. I figure with the 8.5's for surround duty and the 3.1's used as rear centers I should be able run the rear speakers as large. The specs for the 8.5's say output to 36hz, has anyone done any real world testing on these speakers and can confirm what you can really get out of them? My equipment is: Receiver-Denon 3802 Front-KG 4.2's Center-KG 2.2v Subs-SVS 20-39's Surrounds-KSB 3.1's Rear centers-Rock Solid speakers(got em free). I listened to them at Tweeter(onsale now)and I they sounded pretty good. The rear port has me concerned as they would need to be within 4-6 inches from the wall. Thanks Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 12-02-2001 at 09:52 AM

I bought the KSF 8.5s from Tweeter about 6 weeks ago and I love them. I'm driving them with a Marantz SR-5000 receiver and am using them as my fronts (about 50% music, 50% TV/Movies). Hope that helps, if it's not too late.
kmijeski
I have a pait of the 10.5s and I love them. I would think the 8.5s would perform very similar.
