ohricky
I heard there was a diy fix for the KSP400 speakers which emit a low hum or buzz sound like a neon sign. I tried to search thru the arch's but did not find anything. If I recall it was moving some wires. Does anyone remember what the fix was ?? Did this really fix the hum/buzz problem ?? It's definately not a ground loop issue. Please let me know your thoughts. thanxx ... ricky
Guest BobG
Assuming your 400's hum with NOTHING connected to them other than AC power, you may be able to correct by moving wires. UNPLUG the speakers and let them sit at least 24 hours. Then remove the large amp panel. You'll see several wires which lead to the control panel. Some are heavy gauge, others light gauge. Bundle the LIGHT gauge wires together with wire ties or something. Reassemble.
ohricky
Bobg, Thanks for the reply. The hum is with or with out cable being connected. I will try tonight. Question on why the 24 hour wait ?? ricky
dougdrake2
Bob doesn't want you to get a shock when you open the speaker up (he's nice that way ). Because you have a powered sub amp inside the speaker, there may be voltage present in the capacitors in the amp even when it is unplugged. The 24 hour period allows any voltage to dissipate. ranman25
Since this was posted along time ago, I had the same problem and was told to buy a plug to take it from a 3-way to a 2-way and that fixed the problem. No more hum.
