Redbullssg
I have Ultra 5.1's, and want to use them as my home theater surround sound system. I know that the DD 5.1 will make this possible, but for some reason, I can't find one anywhere, and why can't I buy one from Klipsch? Moderators Amy Posted February 2, 2007 Moderators Share Posted February 2, 2007 These were discontinued a few years ago. I'm sorry, I have no idea where you can get one, unless it's used off ebay.
goocifer
So, the DD 5.1 is discontinued, and believe it or not, there haven't been any available on ebay for the last month... What can I use as an alternative? I have a toslink out on my laptop, and I want to somehow connect my promedia 5.1 to it. How exactly do I do this? Guest " "
There are 14 promedia's on ebay right now...maybe one of the is a DD and the seller listed it as a regular model...check out the pic's.
goocifer
Thanks for the response, but I still can't see any promedia decoders on there, what did you search for? I found this though: http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=136&product=9468&nav=features and it has pictures here that make it seem like it does pretty much the same sort of thing as the DDs http://media.gear.ign.com/media/620/620558/img_1907055.html i just wish it didn't look so bad compared to the promedia
m115919h
That creative decoder might be your best (and only) bet, that is unless you want to be patient and wait for one to show up on ebay, which it seems is pretty rare.
mkinne
I just sold my DD 5.1 here on the ProMedia forum (along with my PMU 5.1s - don't worry, I will be upgrading in a few months, just need the extra cash now and won't have the space for a proper setup for a few months anyway). They are around. Mine came in mint condition too (the guy before me had never even peeled the scratch-cover off of the lcd on the DD). I recommend you setup an eBay notice for when someone creates an auction with "promedia dd" in the title or auction body. It helped me find mine. They can get up to about $300, and honestly, I think they are worth it over the Creative brand DD. Good luck!
goocifer
Welp, now it looks like that Creative DDTS 100 is discontinued...This seems a little conspiratorial. Maybe they don't want me to be able to listen to 5.1 sound from my laptop.
