jedinite6
Hello, everyone! I am new to the forum, having just joined yesterday. I am hoping someone will offer some speaker recommmendations for my setup: 12 ft wide room, 14.6 ft long, with a 7 ft ceiling. The seating will be 11 to 12 ft back from a 100" diagonal Stewart Firehawk SST screen. The walls could be made from Quietrock 545 THX, and the drop ceiling black contour tiles will be courtesy of Acoustical Solutions. This room wil be in my basement with no windows, and a Dri-Core subfloor underneath looped, Stainmaster carpeting. Now, i have a pretty good budget for speakers (around $4500-5000) so please, anything that anyone can think of, please suggest. I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks. xdetroitx
I had a similar room and I have the Rf-82 package. I did opt for the rw-12d sub instead of the rt-10d. My total speaker package was $2200. I do have the rs-42s instead of the 52s only due to cost saving. GET the 52s. If you are not planning on moving into a bigger theatre later this package will be great. My system will make your hair move at 10' away. So you will be looking at about $2500 which will leave you $1500 for a nice amp to push the 82s. Mind you I do plan on upgrading to the 83 system in a few years but its also $2000 over what you want to spend. With a 7ft. ceiling and your dimensions you dont have alot of volume to fill with sound. t

JetJockey
Hi there and welcome, get the biggest baddest speakers you can afford, its that simple. The speakers are by far the most crucial part of a good Ht or 2 channel system. BTw, sounds like you have really done a nice job with your HT, congrats and keep us posted and send pics, we love pics!! Go with the RF83 system modded to suit budget(i.e cheaper SUB) or the 83 system with 63's up front instead, there are lots of combos...would you like cheese on that sub?..hehe. Even the 82 system as Detroit said is good and will rock your socks off, almost got them myself. But got this As Buckster said, Klipsch is king. jedinite6
Hi guys, thanks for the advice...keep opinions comin gplease. Okay as far as the system I am leaning towards the Klipsch RF-63 system: 2 RF-63, 1 RC-64, 2 RS-62 and the RT-10d sub. I heard that I could possbily get a good deal on them in my area. But keep on coming with the ideas, fells. And thank you all very much.
jedinite6
Okay, I just saw your thread in the other post that I made earlier. Would it be better to drywall the ceiling instead of using the drop ceiling tiles? Please let me know, thanks.
JetJockey
That 63 system would be very nice and no ceiling tiles if possible, just my two cents though and also ensure you put soundblock insulation in before drywalling the ceiling, sounds obvious but the guy that built my HT (previous owner never did).
