banasikdrummer
With my other thread about my RF-35s, I've decided I need to buy a new receiver sometime in the near future. I was looking on ebay and saw I could get a factory refurbished Denon AVR-1906 for $260 with shipping, or drop another forty and have the AVR-1907. I looked up the specs for them both, and the 1907 just looks like it has more inputs. As you all probably know, I'm far from being an HT expert, so any advice I could get on these receivers would be great. Any other receiver advice would be appreciated too. (And just for clarity's sake, I want a receiver that will have 7.1 in case I decide to upgrade from 5.1 in a few years)
tommyboy
What's your budget for a receiver? I would definitely recommend getting a 7.1 receiver. I would look for something that puts out at least 120 w p/c with your speakers.
DrWho
I think you'll be happy with either the 1907 or 1906....I would make the decision based on the feature set you'll be using (ie, the inputs) since the sound quality will be nearly the same. HK would be another good brand to check out as well.

I have enough money to go fairly big, because I've been saving money since I was a kid, but I really don't feel like spending more than $250 or $300 (since people said both the AVR-1907 and AVR-1907 should both be fine with my set-up). I know that those are both capable of handling 7.1, which is a definite possibility for a few years down the road...
hasaanbhutta
just got myself a Pioneer VSX-1016 receiver after almost 4 weeks of intense reading througout the internet.... and with the set of speakers i have i am sure it would blow away anything.... didnt have time to put it into action (only if we had 4 day weekend )... i will recommend it based on the reviews i read everywhere. i am sure some people here would be using it for a while and might be able to tell how good it is.... the only negative thing that everyone complained about was the lack of transmitting audio through HDMI... which in my case is fine since i wouldnt have that much devices to plug in.... tommyboy
I would say that is a fine receiver. I have the 2016, which is a European model. I think the only difference is mine puts out 150 w p/c. I think you can get the 1016 for about $400.
