Save up a couple more months and get a good tube amp. Not much sense spending money on stuff you really don't want. Save up and get exactly what you want. Take your time, learn your needs/wants and buy quality only. It's much cheaper than cheap stuff.

I think I remember someone saying "Should have gone tubes first" LW. Makes a lot of sense when you look back.

How far from me are you? I've got a Technics SL220 I took in trade on service work. It came with a Ortofon LM15 cartridge. Speed is right.and it sounds fine for what it is. I really don't have a need for it,so if you want it just come get it.

do you mean better than the scott 299 i just picked up?

The Scott's a keeper! Should have kept mine.[:$] But needed funds to try other amps. Is the 299 ready to play,or does it need to be looked at by Craig?

Wooo Hooooo got my Scott 299a today.IMG_0494.jpg

the seller did an excellent job packing it took about 20 minutes to free it from its packaging!

ALAS, fed ex was still able to break sumthing. heres the pix what should i do?

is there a place to get a replacement fuse cover?

fuse looks okay, can i run it without the cover to test unit out?
