HarryO
"I actually have no idea. any suggestions? budget under 300.00 right now." Save up a couple more months and get a good tube amp. Not much sense spending money on stuff you really don't want. Save up and get exactly what you want. Take your time, learn your needs/wants and buy quality only. It's much cheaper than cheap stuff. I think I remember someone saying "Should have gone tubes first" LW. Makes a lot of sense when you look back. Harry
lwhaples
I actually have no idea. any suggestions? budget under 300.00 right now. How far from me are you? I've got a Technics SL220 I took in trade on service work. It came with a Ortofon LM15 cartridge. Speed is right.and it sounds fine for what it is. I really don't have a need for it,so if you want it just come get it. Larry

lwhaples
"Save up a couple more months and get a good tube amp" do you mean better than the scott 299 i just picked up? The Scott's a keeper! Should have kept mine.[:$] But needed funds to try other amps. Is the 299 ready to play,or does it need to be looked at by Craig? HarryO
Sorry about the comment. Brain fart. Head up my A$$ and all. I've got tube amps on the brain. Somehow I inserted tube amp instead of turntable in my feeble brain. My utmost apologies for this one. Scott is a killer amp. Keeper.
