Angel33
Can i use my Stage one with a blu-ray player. Do i use the 25 pin connection or Optical. Please help me. Thank You all
damonrpayne
You can use optical, but you will not be getting HD sound. The way to get HD soud is: if your player can decode and has mutli-channel analog out (most of them do, but not the PS3) you use that and the 6ch analog in on the Stage One. A special cable is required for this. I believe there is a thread about this in the Aragon section of the forum.
kkerley33
Damon, Optical will only give 5.1 Sound. Cobalt Cables sells an 25 pin to 8 Channel Analogue RCA for $120.00. I would recommend the Panasonic BD10AK Blu-Ray player. It does all the audio decoding. Does this mean the Stage One isnt for sale anymore. Erik Mandaville
This is going to sound ignorant. What is Blue Ray?! Is it a sort of hi-def DVD format, maybe similar to SACD or DVD audio? Erik
kkerley33
Erik, Blu-Ray is one of two competing High Definition Video formats. The other is HD-DVD. Blu Ray has a higher market penetration right now, but neither format will probably win out in the short term. In fact, with the ability to download HD content from Netflix and Blockbuster coming shortly, neither format may win as Media Extenders become more prominent and can send the movie to your TV from your computer. A media center extender is a box similar to a cable box that pulls downloaded information from your computer and displays it on your TV or through your Audio Processor. Hope that helps. If not, go to wikipedia or type Blu-Ray in on a google search. You will read stuff till your eyes hurt on which is better. LOL KAK
kkerley33
Damon, If you haven't purchased the Denon yet, take a look at the Anthem AVM 50. It has HDMI Audio Capabilities. Make sure it has 8 Channel Capabilities though, some HDMI 1.1 versions only accept a 5.1 PCM Feed. KAK
damonrpayne
I have not purchased the Denon, and I have looked at the AVM50 in the past, quite a bit more than I want to spend. This is what I have my sights set on now: http://www.integrahometheater.com/model.cfm?m=DTC-9.8&class=Separates&p=f There is a local custom install shop who is going to let me borrow one for a weekend, expect a detailed review. kkerley33
Damon, That looks like it has all the bases covered. About the only thing it is missing is a firewire connection. LOL What are those running "up north". The shop in town only has the 9.4. I had not seen the 9.8. BTW, what are you using for AMPS. dougdrake
What's the Integra's street price? That's an impressive list of specs....
IndyKlipschFan
http://sunfire.com/TGP5.htm Damon.. You might like this too!
damonrpayne
http://sunfire.com/TGP5.htm Damon.. You might like this too! Expensive, and not HDMI 1.3a
damonrpayne
What's the Integra's street price? That's an impressive list of specs.... In the realm of $1700 I think. We'll see how impressive when I get the audition unit.
kkerley33
Damon, Pricewise, that is very reasonable. Let us know how it sounds. I personally would have thought something from integra...especially with those specs would run a bit higher. The Stage One is setting a high standard for sound though. If possible, let us know how the A/B comparison is on Music and internal DD/DTS decoding. KAK

Angel33
I'm thing of buying the Panasonic PX-AX1000U or the JVC 1080p. What do you think of your projector? Which Aragon stage one do you have, the black or the silver? If any one whats to trade there black for a silver I'll do it. Thank you
damonrpayne
I have the silver stage one. I'm very happy with my projector, though it does exhibit one issue. Very high bitrate video will occasionally cause a super-brief purple line to be seen for about 200ms. This is with the dynamic Iris on, which increases contrast to 6000:1, but of course I want to run in high contrast which is why I bought this projector. Future models (and the same model manufactured after the run mine came from, apparently) don't ahve the issues from what I hear.
kkerley33
So how did the demo go Damon?
damonrpayne
Has not happened yet, the shipping of these units has been delayed a couple of times, but the hifi shop has called me to let me know I can still borrow one when they come in.
