tomec
Hi, I have a Klipsch THX Ultra2 set with 2 KW-120 subs and 1 KA-1000 amp. As I move to Europe I have to get another amp for the subs, as the KA-1000 (US-model) can not be changed to 230V. Has anybody ever tried another amp with this subs? I am wondering if a proamp (f.e. Crown xti 2000) would be a good idea! Thanks Tomec
IndyKlipschFan
I would ask klipsch if they can modify it for you. That amp - speaker combo is made as a system. If you own it, you know it is more than a power amp with a x over... That's my advice!

A export model would set me back 1.400 $, so I was looking for a cheaper solution!
RichardP
I have the same amp, and when it temporarily malfunctioned, I wasshocked to learn that Klipsch offers no support whatsoever after thewarranty expires. Fortunately, it came back to life. While thingswere still in limbo, however, I noticed a similar amp (in terms ofpower and specs) from PartsExpress. It is a dedicated sub amp, and, according to the description, has many of the same features as theKlipsch (though not the SpeakOn connectors, which would be simple tomodify). The good news is that it is only about $350. I can't recallthe model number, but it is the only sub amp they offer at that pricepoint. Ouch, I figured with all of 2 posts so far, you did not. Just trying to help.
tomec
I just received the new parts express catalog and found the amp. I guess it is the Daytona Audio HPSA 1000-R for 398.80. It seems to be switchable betwen 110/220 VAC. That is exactly what I need. I will give it a try! Thanks for the help RichardP and IndyKlipschFan Tomec
