kg4guy
I have some of my speakers playing on my KR 9600 Kenwood receiver and when I turn it off sometimes it pops any cure?
HarryO
You're going to need a new pair of powerpacks for it. Start looking now. They're almost non-existant anymore. They'll run at least $200 used IF you can find them. Harry
jheis
A "work-around" is to use a speaker selector switch (such as a Niles) to "turn off" your speakers before turning off the amp. James
kg4guy
I have 3 com-tech 200 crown amps could I use one of these and use the Kenwood as a preamp if the powerpacks go bad?
HarryO
I used mine as a preamp after the packs went out of mine. Great tuner sections in them too! Harry

kg4guy
Had this for 20 + years it has been a great receiver I guess I will have to let it go.
HarryO
FYI, I sold mine for $150 without powerpacks, rack handles, upper and lower covers. Ebay sale with a BIN of $150 and it didn't last an hour. It was wanted as a tuner and preamp. Harry
garymd
I bought mine new in '76 and it still works great. You'll be sorely disappointed if you don't buy something really nice to replace it. The majority of today's SS receivers can't come close. It finally took tubes before I was able to replace mine satisfactorily. How bad is the pop? I recall mine did the same but it wasn't loud. Does it still pop if you turn it to speakers B or C before turning the power off?
kg4guy
It is not bad and I did take your advice and turned it to another speaker channel and it did not pop. Thanks if I replace it I will get a Pioneer Sx1250 or a Sansui 9090DB or as I said in my earlier post I will use it as a preamp and use one of my crown Com-Tech 200 amps . garymd
Nice. Might as well stick with the good stuff. They don't make em like they used to! I used mine as a preamp with my VRDs while my BBX was getting Creamed.[] Did a more than adequate job!
