askbob1
i was looking to purchase an all in one dvd player. meaning that it could play sacd's, dvd audio, and dvd's. up-converting would be nice too. i know the oppo has one of the better reputations for video quality, but what about the audio quality? which player has the best audio along with video quality among lower to mid priced players? i'm looking for the best bang for the buck. any info would be nice. Arky
If you are using digital out you won't be using the players audio dac. Here is a site to aid your search. Welcome to the forum.
jbsl
I have had a Denon 2900 for 3 years and have been very pleased with it. The newer Denon universal players are also very good.
askbob1
i will be using the component outputs since my tv is somewhat dated. therefore i would be using the regular audio outputs of the player directly to my receiver. i have considered the oppo 980h or the cambridge audio dvd89. i know the oppo has very good video quality, but will it rival with say a denon when it comes to playing a sacd or dvd audio? askbob1
one last thing. has anyone played the oppo 980 and the denon 2900 head to head? i had found several denon's relatively inexpensive as well. it is coming down to either $169 for a new piece, or $250-300 for a used denon. thx.
