badbob
My house is currently wired with RG-59 cable. This past w/e a friend of mine gave me a DishNetwork 500 dish and 2 recievers. Can I connect the dish to the existing RG-59 cable or will I need to pull new RG-6 cable? The only thing that I have been able to find out is that I will lose "some bandwith" but will it adversely impact the video/audio signal to my TV/stereo? Thanks in advance!! avman
rg 6 IS the specified wire for satellite/digital connections, however i've had rg 59 work sometimes, and sometimes NOT. the sat. rcvr. sends power to the lnb on the dish through the coax, and the signal travels from the lnb to the receiver through it as well. also, NO splitters allowed between dish and receiver. try it, and see what you get. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds RSW-15 on the way!! sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 sony dvpnc 650-v 5-disc dvd/cd/SACD changer dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder sony kv36xbr450 high-definition 4:3 tv sharp xv-z1u lcd projector w/$22 vinyl pull-down window shade 'screen'-rough side out Bello'international Italian-made a/v furniture panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable and nxg interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire KLIPSCH-So Good It Hz! badbob
Well, I went ahead and used RG-59 from the dish to where I could tap into the existing wire through out the house. It worked and all is well!! Thanks avman for the comments/advice. ROCK ON!!
