peshewah
As you can see in my signature I have (soon to be) a 5.1 system. I am looking at these two recievers. RX-V463 and RX-V663. http://www.yamaha.com/yec/compare/Detail.html?compitem1=&compitem2=567576&compitem3=567571&CTID=5000300&VNM=LIVE&comp_items=567571&comp_items=567576&B_compare.x=24&B_compare.y=7. I hope the link works. I don't have a fancy flat screen, just an old school TV. The salesman is saying the one that cost more money would be a better deal and sound better, but it has less power. I'm into the sound. My old reciever is giving me trouble. Can you all help me out?
Bill H.
For the money you can't go wrong with the RX-V463. Received high ratings. Good Luck and trust your Ears which sounds best.
htxpert
The Yamaha RX-V663 is the best bang for your buck mid-fi receiver. The RX-V663 has many advantages over the 463 and is the more powerful receiver. The measured advertised WPCpower rating difference is very deceiving because the two receivers weremeasured in a different manner. The important specification is the measureddistortion level and dampening factor at 20-20k. Don’t get yourself caughtup in the WPC marketing game; you would need to double the amount of poweroutput for a net 3dB gain. Look at the comparison below, besides the 663 being a 7.1 channel receiver Ihave highlighted the differences in red. The extra $200 buys you much more whenyou compare the two side by side. Leaving all the rest of the feature on the663 out the fact that it has video up conversion, pure direct, decodes DTSMaster and Dolby True HD internally is worth the extra $200 alone. htxpert
First of all I want to thank you for all the help. Will the Yamaha sound pretty good with my 62's. Not pretty good > Very good. I am getting ready to pull one and set it up with 2- RF-83, 1-RC-64, 2-RC-64 and 2 RB-51 (Ex) in my showroom. How much you wanna bet the RX-V663 will make these speakers sing? I currently have the Yamaha RX-V3800 driving the system but want some play time with the 663.
peshewah
Cool beans. It all sounds real good. Next Friday when I get paid I'm going to the big city (Springfield Mo) and pick one up. I would love to order one from Vann's and pocket that $50. But I have this picture in my mind of Fed-Ex or UPS drop kicking my reciever to my door step as it rains on it all day while I'm at work. Those people are rougher than a cob. Anyway, if anyone gets anymore info on the 663 good or bad please post it. Thanks guys.
