SUB-12 hookup.....

Fellow Klipschers, would like your feedback-opinion on optimum set-up for Synergy Sub-12. My Yamaha CA1000 doesn't have a sub-out, so after much research on the Web, I decided to use RCA Y-cables at the pre-outs - one end of each RCA Y goes to L&R main-ins, other ends go to L&R ins on Sub-12. After trying different positions in listening room (15x18x8, drapes, carpet, furniture) the Sub sounded best on front wall, just inboard of right side La Scala (recently upgraded with Crites x-overs). Sub roll-off is set at around 70Hz, gain is set at around 1-o'clock position. Correct phase was determined via SPL meter. I am pleased with the overall sound, but am wondering if this is the optimum set-up for the equipment I have. I would welcome all responses with appreciation and respect. Thanks.

Without a sub-out on your pre-amp/receiver (and consequently an integrated xover), yes - that is probably the next best thing you can do. I have my Sub12 crossed at 80 - but to each their own :) So long as you are enjoying the sound - that is what counts. Maybe in the near future it will be time to look for a new pre-amp/receiver? :D
