Question about Custom series

Hi guys. I just had a couple of questions about this new series of earphones. I'm basically new to the whole canalphones concept, but I often use a pair of Sony MDR-7509 headphones, and I definetly appreciate the sound coming out of those. First of all, is there really any way to try these different models of earphones? Preferably not just Klipsch, because I'd like to shop around and find out which ones actually work the best for me. I'm looking the most at the Custom-2 and Custom-3 models, so if I could just hear the difference between those, that might be all I need.

My second big question is about live in-ear monitoring with the Custom's. I'm somewhat of a semi-pro vocalist and to avoid losing my hearing, I'm looking at investing in a wireless in-ear monitoring system. Would these headphones work with this type of system, in terms of isolation and sound reproduction? I'd really want to avoid buying two expensive pairs of earphones if I can get away with it.

Thanks!

I think Klipsch still has a 30 day money back guarantee so you can feel pretty safe from that. But any shop that sells stuff like this should have the same policy so you don't have to limit yourself to a single product line.

Have you considered trying to compare the Image and the Custom 3? The Custom 2 and Custom 3 are going to be physically similar if not identical so if they don't fit right for you then both are a no go. But the Image are totally different for fit so they might be another consideration.

I have no clue about wireless in-ear monitoring. Maybe Prof Thump or Amy can help there.

Hi Piano Man,

Glad to hear you are conscious about the health of your hearing...

Yes you can certainly use Klipsch IE headphones as IEM's. Custom series is probably better suited for this application since the over ear wire makes it more stable but I have used both Custom and Image for this application with no problems. Double flange eartips will give you more noise isolation if needed.

Custom 1's may be adequate enough for IEM application if you are worried about too much bass coming from the main PA otherwise I would recommend going to at least a Custom 2 for your IEM.

It is going to be hard to audition them yet because most of our vendors don't have extra eartips yet. But the replacement ear tips are in the works. I wouldn't worry too much about purchasing them, you have a 30 days money back guarantee if you don't like them.

Hope this helps you...
