Don Richard
I am looking for suggestions on an outboard D/A converter. Preferably one that supports multiple sample rates. TIA
Schurkey
Aragon D2A Mk II Aragon D2A2 (includes HDCD if that's important) Neither will support current high-sample rate/high bit formats but would be fine for CD/DVD at 32--44.1--48 sample rates. $300--$500 depending on condition from eBay or Audiogon
dmonte
I use the following and it is incredible, the manufacturer puts them up on eBay once a week or so and they do not last more than a few hours. http://cgi.ebay.com/TDA1545A-Non-OS-USB-TUBE-DAC-Paradisea_W0QQitemZ120252832944QQihZ002QQcategoryZ14978QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
turntable3
I am using a RME ADI-2 which has the following features: A/D and D/A with SPDIF, AESEBU, ADAT up to 192khz, 24 bit symmetrical inputs and outputs (TRS, XLR) plus separate and simultaneously active phone jacks and adjustable headphone output if you change a jumper inside, the output becomes adjustable so you can hook up directly into a power amp the device runs on battery too - I do it this way and the sound is better than with external switching power-supply it is a german product - designed and manufactured in germany Look at the page: www.rme-audio.de The US price is 799$ - I know this exceeds the amount you want to spent, but this cute little thing is a big bang for your money Jack
