  1. Good day, I think it is the SOUND which makes KLIPSCH KLIPSCH. It sounds like "live" even at low volumes. Take PORCUPINE TREE - Octane Twisted - a live album recorded 2010 in Chicago. I have seen them in Karlsruhe/germany 2010. Auditioning this record on La Scalas it is like live. It is fast, bass and drums are hitting you if you crank up. I do not know any brand of speaker which is able to bring such a magic live feeling into my living room. I had Infinity, B&W, Jbl and others. Have a nice day Jack
  2. Tonight I proudly present my setup. It consists of 2 Nubert AW-1000 subwoofers which are made in germany. For alignement of the woofers I use 2 DSPEAKER 8033. These small devices kill the room-modes - especially the one around 39hz. To add some spice to the sound I use 2 Alto-Q parametric equalizers. Turntable is aTD2001 with a Lyra Dorian pickup. Phonoamp is integtated within the ML 320s. The scalas I own for 5 years now and they will last. Have a nice day Jack
  3. sorry for the multiple posts - my keyboard is weired this morning maybe an admin can delete the posts. sorry. Jack
  4. Good morning rockbobmel, I have 2 of them to equalize my subs which are NUBERT AW-1000 www.nubert.de I had a big eoom-mode at 39hz - which was flattened out by DSPeaker8033. The Antimode is plug and play. You have to level out the volumes of the subs and the Scalas first - connect the microphone into the DSPeaker and press 2 buttons to run the measurement-tones. I can promise: after the measurement the subs will play nearly perfect. The Antimode corrects the big modes but does not fill dips. tHIS DEVICE IS

This device does not cost as much as other devices and the usage is very simple but the effects of correcting your sub-response to the room is great. Stereophile says it's a recommended item. Have a nice day Jack
  8. Even the Palladium P-37F is manufactured in China. It is stamped on the packings. The P-39F is manufactured in the U.S. Jack
  9. @John Albright: thank you for the hint for vmps. I'll check it out. @Amy Unger: thank you for the confirmation where the Palladiums are made
  10. Recently I tested a SVS PC12 NSD cylinder subwoofer and a Velodyne DD-10. Both failed my test because of their low input sensivity. Only at relatively high volume outputs from the Mark Levinson 320s the woofers made sound. At low levels there was nothing to hear even with full gain on the SVS. Very well done is the room measurement system of the Velodyne. The search for more bass is going on.
  11. Good Morning, on the package of the Palladiums is written very clearly: Made in China. @Coytee: thanks for your suggestion. Yeah the Jubliees - they are too big for my room @Islander: I am going to get an audition of LS II @Colin: you should hear what the Mark Levinson 431 is pumping out of the scalas at high volumes - for me the perfect match and sound - ok. a liitle bit more bass would be fine - but it depends on the record how much bass is in it - with David Gilmour's Live in Gdansk (on vinyl) I do not hear any lack of bass - the scalas shake the walls and the neigbours.... 12. Recently I had a hearing session with the Palladium P-37F in my livingroom. I had to make a decision: changing the scalas for the P-37Fs or not. These are made like very fine furniture. The cebra-grain-veneer is very, very nice. If positioned properly – far away from any wall and on spikes – these speakers sound like an acoustical magnifying glass. Powered by a ML 431 with ML320s and my newly purchased ML390s-cd-player these speakers sounded best with music like Natalie Cole’s Unforgettable or War of the worlds or similar music. But when it came to music like Black Sabbath and Ozric Tentacles the sound was awful not only for my ears because of bloating and unprecise bass and sawing highs. The scalas sound good with Natalie Cole too – but they are no magnifying glasses compared to the P-37F. The scalas sound more open and airy but have lesser bass. For my ears the scalas sound far more real than the P-37Fs which sound artificially. My dealer said when I rung him up to get back the P-37F, he would have been very disappointed if I had changed my scalas for the P-37F. There is one point which I do not like: the P-37Fs are built in China. Why Klipsch does not build them in the US? For Chinese built speakers the price here in Germany is too high: 8000€. For the presentation model P-37F which I auditioned the price was 4200€. Kind regards Jack
  13. Hi, from 1997 until 2002 I've used to play a VMR. From 2002 until now I am playing a VXMR. The difference is very small. The VMR had slightly more light in the highs compared to the VXMR. From this point of hearing I can agree with Shure's description of the VXMR being "warmer and more musical". Jack
  14. I am running a Teac Vrds 25x into a RME ADI-2 D/A converter which does upsampling up to 176,4/24 or 192/24 depending on the source. Comparing the sound I can say the RME-D/A sounds more crispy and fresh while the old Teac sounds a little bit too laid back meanwhile. The RME sounds better than a Denon DVD 2200. A Sony CDP 270 sounds a liitle bit harsh compared with the Teac. You won`t hear this on your scalas. Jack
  15. take a look into this one - this amp is driving my Scalas
