TwilightHaze
So...long story short, my DD5.1 is no longer functional. It powers on, but will no longer accept input from any remote (the Klipsch, or a Logitech Harmony) so my receiver and effectively my Ultras are useless. Sure, I could use my Ultras as computer speakers, but I no longer game as much on the PC, or watch DVDs on it for that matter. Plus, I have the Klipsch 2.1 speakers for my comptuer right now. Klipsch no longer offers repair of the DD5.1 and the oh so helpful rep I communicated with via email refuses to tell me what receivers if any are compatible with the Ultras. He suggested I try and buy a DD5.1 on Ebay...hah! So what receivers are out there will work with my Ultras. I know that there is the Creative one from a few years back that will work. Are there any others? Would something like http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR304S-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B000FJKJHU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video&qid=1214362167&sr=1-3 that receiver work with the Ultras? And then as a general aside because I'm rather frustrated right now...is this typical of Klipsch? To release a product and then not support it anymore just a couple years down the road? elliot-tronics
Hi, I use an Onkyo TX-DS787 and it works great (even better tham a Klipsch decoder), also I have a Yamaha RX-V1300 and it also works, just look for a receiver that has the optical imputs and the surround RCA jack outs (front L_R, Center, Rear L-R). P.S The receiver on your link only has stereo output and no sourround or center, so it won't work. Cheers,
sullysnet
I was looking at a JVC, maybe not as nice as the Onkyo but small for using with the PC. It seem to have every port I needed at the time but I decided to keep using my ProMedia Ultra power amp.
