arriagaricardo
HOW TRUE IS THA ALL SPEAKERS ON A HOME THEATER SHOULD BE SET TO SMALL EVEN IF THEY ARE FLOORSTANDERS AND THE CROSSOVER SHOULD BE SET TO 80, SO THAT WAY THE SPEAKERS DONT GET OVERWHELMED WITH THE BASS WHEN PLAYING LAOUD? ALSO, DOES ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IST THE PHASE O-180 SWITCH FOR ON THE SUBWOOFER? AND WHERE IT SHOULD BE SET 0 OR 180?
wuzzzer
I apologize in advance if I don't reply in all capital letters. [8-|] Setting a speaker to 'Small' and the crossover to 80Hz will help the receiver or amplifier because it isn't amplifying the lowest of bass frequencies which takes the most amount of power to amplify. It also will let the subwoofer do its job which is to amplify the lowest of bass frequencies. The phase switch is there to help your subwoofer blend with your other speakers. The best way to test out which position is best is to play some music or a movie that has a lot of bass and see which position - 0 or 180 - sounds best from your main listening position and then leave the switch in that position.
