  1. Like Thebes, I was shocked to see a tally for warning points. Is there a key to how many you are allowed? Also it seems others can't see who has amassed these points. That kind of takes the fun out of it. I mean, in elementary school, all the students knew how deeply in people like (troublemakers like) Thebes were at all times, which led to all types of schemes by instigators to figure out exactly where the cliff edge ended, just needing that extra push....

    CHAD,

I asked before and was never answered, so I will ask again; Do warning points fall off over time?? It would really suck sitting on the brink and never being able to be good long enough to redeem oneself!!!!!!!!!

    Roger

Please see my response on your other thread: http://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/146598-so-what-are-these-warning-points-about/?p=1663942

  2. From our FAQ:

Q: Why the heck do I see "X Warning Points" below my avatar (but nobody else's)?

A: This forum uses a Warning system that allows Admins and Moderators to give warnings (which include points) to members if they violate the Forum Rules in some way. Points can also be removed over time. You can only see your own points. We currently do not have a warning point policy in place, but may have one depending on need. So for now, it's nothing to worry about.

  3. Hey everyone...

Just wanted to thank you all for your continued input.

I want to also let you know that we are currently not going to aggressively move topics around, for now anyway. We've got too much other stuff to do. B)

What we'd like to do is keep things as they are for now, and compile some usage data over the next few days/weeks or months. Then we may (or may not) consider a forum restructuring of sorts, which would almost certainly consolidate things a little. By that I mean combine certain forums that don't get much traffic, rename certain other forums, and simplify things a bit.

Again, we aren't going to do any sort of restructuring beyond what's already been done yet. We may not even do it at all. But, time will tell.

Anyway, thanks again. I'm going to go ahead and close this topic, as I think most people that have a strong opinion on it have said what they wanted to say.

  4. If you find yourself having to log in to the forums daily even if you have "remember me" checked, try deleting your browser cookies for this site. That seems to solve the issue.

Can you, or anyone, tell me how to do this on an iPhone 4, please? I have to log on, not every time, but up to 6 X a day.

I left my iPhone 4 tester at the office (I'm an Android guy currently). But I think if you go into Settings > Safari, there is an option buried somewhere in there. Maybe look for "Privacy?"

  5. I cant get on with my original monaker,,,SO hear I go with a new name,,,,BUT AMY knows who I am,,,,I keep getting..."Default mail is not properly installed" Well it recognizes me this way...Go figure,,

Please see my reply in the other thread (only need to post about it once)

Might be nice to tell which other thread you are talking about. Or post it again here where the comment was made or would that be too hard?

I'm sure since he made 2 identical posts on the same thing, he would figure it out.

  6. Thank you, that's what I thought but was hoping I was just missing something simple.

Welcome ChadW your doing a great job.

If you are trying to post a picture here in our forums, you can attach images to your post (which uploads them from your computer and adds them to the post)

  7. Well, that may be just perception. Actually, there are fewer sub-forums now than there were before the migration. There really hasn't been THAT much change in forum structure otherwise.

And, I'm looking at the stats and new topics/posting numbers are at the highest since April 2013. Always gotta consider ebb-flow.

I'll be keeping my eyes on the stats over the next few months to see how things work out. Thanks for your concern though!

  8. One thing I just noticed missing which the old forum had is a "Member Online" status, you can see if the member is ON or OFFLINE by cursing over their name, it was just nice to be able to see it at a glance. If possible this would be a nice addition.

I can see this all the way at the bottom. Unless it's an admin thing only?

It's not an admin only thing. I think what he's talking about is showing the online tag right next to the member name everywhere, which frankly would just clutter everything up. There are already other ways to see who is currently online.

Yes this is how it always was and it was much nicer to know who was ONLINE without having to search to find out

Not next to the members name but somewhere under the members avatar like at the bottom below the number of posts for that member.

    Now I understand.

    You got it.

  9. I thank everyone for their input. I'm nothing if not fair (yeah I'm a programmer, but I like to think I'm a little different from most :) )...

My request wasn't meant as a law or anything like that. Merely a suggestion by someone who has managed large forum communities in the past and knows what is likely to work well. Not all online communities are identical (thank heavens), and we love ours. Carry on, y'all.

  10. This sounds/reads like some unnecessary and confusing turmoil. One person's "cleaning things up" can be another's path to confusion. Reading the posts above makes this clear. It doesn't sound like many people thought something was broken that needed fixing.

I suggest leaving things the way they were until a problem is better identified.

I get it. But consider this:

A random visitor who has never been to the Klipsch Forums before lands here. He has a general question about a Klipsch product that he can't remember the name of, only vaguely the timeframe of when it was on the market. First thing he does is go to the General Klipsch Questions & Info forum, to see if anyone might be talking about something similar, maybe he can learn something. Imagine his confusion when, while expecting a bunch of topics about Klipsch products/history/what-have-you, he sees:

    post-1-0-91320000-1383245180_thumb.jpg

And immediately gets turned off to the forums and leaves.

So, instead of a potential thread and conversation about something relevant to the sub-forum (where others would benefit), we get nothing.

Or, we could just keep things noisy, thereby reducing the chance of forum growth.

  11. So general is Klipsch topics that don't fit anywhere else and Off Topic is everything else that use to be in the General section?????

Here's a tip, the forums are divided into categories.

Use the categories as guidelines for what is in the forums contained within. This is really how most good forum communities (avsforum.com for a familiar example) work. And as Amy said, nothing is set into stone. Some forums may be combined over time, or separated out, depending on how things go organically. For instance, this morning I combined the Computer and Gaming forums.
