  1. Came across this article on Soundstage... http://www.soundstage.com/surrounded/surrounded200307.htm As per this article, for Multi channel music 4 speakers is enough with Center on "Phantom" unless all five speakers are identical in every way ! What say ?
  2. I am not an expert on this as I do not have any experience with In wall speakers..although i am not sure it could do a good job as an alternative to the Center channel. Why dont you try out the Phantom Channel first...if you are able to follow the Dialogues easily as well as if you can verify that the Dialogues do appear to be coming from the characters position on the screen..it should be good enough for you ! Cheers!
  3. Hi Kevin, Most of us should understand your problem ! What receiver are you using ? Phantom center means that all signals meant for the center channel would be split and sent to the Right & Left speakers. For a good effect, they should be close to the TV which may affect the soundstage for Music. The HK receivers have a setting for "Phantom". In Onkyo you only need to set it up for 4 speakers (L,R, surrounds) and it will default the Center to L & R. I am sure other receivers would have this in one way or the other. Hope this helps..

  5. Hi Sajeev, Many receivers would not have an LFE out in Stereo Mode (Your JVC receiver manual may mention how it behaves). If your Subwoofer has the capability of Line level inputs you would need to 1 Connect the Subwoofer input (Line level) to the LR speaker outputs of the Receiver. 2 Then the Subwoofer LR speaker out of the Sub to the Acoustimass module line ins (Standard setup) ie you are connecting the AM5 to the receiver via the Subwoofer. Now a crossover of around 70-100 should sound good ...just set the speakers to Large In case your subwoofer does not have line level input/output only option would be to hope that the receeiver does have the capability to push low Freq sinals to the Sub in Stereo ! I had tried this out with an AM3 and Polk 350 some time back during my days of Audio wilderness...Of course I have now moved on to the Klipsch Ref series now
  6. I Just hapenned to be shopping for CD's when I heard these playing Vivaldis' Spring...It sounded like "Liquid Gold" !!! Very laid back..sweet and soft..perfect for that romantic evening with Champagne ... Wish I had the Budget to buy these and the Permission to Own them Imagine my RF-3's for HT & Rock and these for classical....SWEET ! cheers! Arj

  8. Thanks a Lot guys ! Finally decided on the Talk Electronics- Cyclone 1.1 sounded much better than all the other three (I borrowed a friends OMNISAT's which are a tad on the brighter side and lugged them around Sounds great with the RF3 - Arj

  10. I am currently using my Rf-3II's for a home theater, but want to move these to a stereo setup to a separate room and separate it from the HT I am getting a decent deal on the following stereo Amps 1. Arcam Alpha 5 + 2. Rotel 971 3. NAD 320 BEE Would really appreciate comments from the Collective knowledge on Klipsh experts in this Forum, as to which of the above to go for..I heard that NAD typically borders on Harsh and might sound bad with Klipsch. Unfortunately dealers here do not allow to take stuff home for checking and these folks have primarily british speakers which have a very different sound signature from the Klipsch speakers, Hence there is no way for me to check out at home on my setup My taste in Music Ranges from Classical (Love Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Ravel) to Rock (Primarily Dire straits , Floyd, Clapton...) Thanks !! Arj
  11. Before buying My RF-3II's i did go to all those "review" sites..found an interesting one by Wes Marshall here. perhaps you folks might find it interesting..in case you have not seen it already !! http://www.hometheatersound.com/equipment/klipsch_reference.htm Another one ..a face off with polk & RBH http://www.hometheatermag.com/fullarchives.cgi?41 An Italian review of RF-3 http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/klipsch-rf3_e.html Another one in new-zealand http://www.audioenz.co.nz/2003/klipsch_rf3_ht-system.shtml Pretty nice ! Cheers!
  12. Thats true. Funnily I am currently using this in an almost 35X14 hall and the speakers being more than 5 ft from the back wall on the long side and more 3 feet each from the side walls (they are around 7ft apart) hence i would have expected punchy Bass but not a very low response...anyway am moving to a larger apartment with a smaller hall...so lets see how it performs there I did find response charactestics for the RB-5 in the below site, by Andrew Marshal..hence the Rf-3I must definitely be better http://www.audio-ideas.com/reviews/loudspeakers/klipsch-rb5.html Was really hoping someone has the same for the RF-3II's !! Cheers! and thanks a lot for the helpful comments
  13. I guess thats what I could do..I was listening to Stravinsky's Rite of spring and I could SWEAR that the freq was going lower than the rated 37,seemed like in the lower 30's to me..Of course ears are not the best instruments for that level of detail. Am still convincing myself for going for a sub and this very well could be wishful thinking !!! Hence thought if someone has the response charts i could take a look at the 30 hz values and convince myself of the need for a sub, as well as go 1 up on my cousins Paradigms !! Thanks Arj
  14. Hmm.. I hope Someone has it...there is nothing like that on the Net.. Could someone could tell me the min and max freq achievable on a RF-3 at the 3db measurement point in room conditions ? Thx!
  15. HI, Does anyone have the frequency Response Charts/Graphs of the RF-3II ? Wanted to Compare them to the paradigm monitor 9 , Which my Cousin owns I could not find any in any Review sites. Thanks !
  16. Just bought a pair of RF-3II`s. Although the New center channels seem a lot better with better crossover and additional ports, the RF-35 at $1000, seems like the same only with a "better" woofer and more than $200 markup. The RF-25/15 IMHO are really not equivalent to the RF-3`s as the woofer sizes have gone down and amd sure would require a Sub even for music . (The min is 45 hz Vs 37hz for the rf-3/rf-35). and these would apparently retail at around $ 850/600 or so.. Would rather spend the money "saved " on a RC-25`s :-) What say ?
  17. Hey Thanks shape shifter. I`ll check with my dealer..Saw the pics of the RC-25 and 35 on this site and they do look nice. The ports on the sides are interesting. BTW does anyone know if the RF-3II`s production will be stopped due to the new line ? the release only talks about extending the line, but the RF-35 has the same specs but for the HF crossover.. Thx, arjun
  18. Hi , Am the rather proud owner of a pair of RF-3II and had been prmarily been on the 2 channel audio mode. Want to upgrade this to an HT but want very small Center and surrounds. Would the Quintet Centre and surround be a good match for these ? I am not too inclined towards a non Klipsch product and find the reference CC too large. Also I am not in the US now and the synergy line is not available for sale here...
