  1. I am getting ready to order some cables from www.partsexpress.com and I wanted to get a SPL meter with it because I have the Digital Video Essentials DVD and I wanted to use it to its full potentinal. But honestly I don't know anything about a SPL meter can someone go to www.partsexpress.com and see if they have a good SPL meter and which one I should get. Thanks
  2. Maybe one day... I need free :-) I am cheap and need a new computer I can plug them all directly into the TV or just one... I just dunno what would be best.
  3. So, I have been having internet problems and Adelphia comes to my house seems my set-up Instantly asks me to be a Beta Tester for HDTV :-) HELL YEAH!!!!! I have no more component inputs on my reciever though (Denon 3803) 2 component inputs, used by DVD player and X-box. So, my question is, should I take all my cables and run them directly to the TV. Or just run one directly to the TV(If so which one).
  4. I would definately like more info.... free(or close too) sounds to good to be true...
  5. We used to have a satelite dish almost 15 years ago and it was terrible always went out very expensive blah blah blah. Obviously technology changes, So we are talking about making the switch because I just lost my favorite channel on regular cable. Anyways, About how much does it cost for say 4 recievers (one High Definition). I think prices are only like $15 more a month than what I am paying now and we only get HBO and all basic channels. So that doesn't seem to be a problem, I just don't want to sign up and have to pay $1,000 to get recievers for my house. Can anyone help me pick out a satelite company and not get screwed? Any tips on if the system goes down in bad weather as adelphia claims :-p Just any info in general would help, I have looked at a couple satelite companys.... but I trust you guys more than them :-p Thanks
  6. Just found out the frame even on the front of my car is really really messed up, including the plastic on the inside. So I am glad I turned it into insurance it sounds like its going to cost a lot to get it fixed. Luckily I know a really really good body shop. :-) No clue where to take my car to get decent service but I know a good body shop :-(
  7. hehe I live in Pulaski, VA :-)
  8. Thanks a lot all, I am much better after a few days. $500 deductable... probably shouldn't have even turned it into insurance cause my windshield is onyl supposed to cost about $300. But good news it my dad said he was sorry glad I was ok and he would pay for the windshield :-)
  9. Yeah, I wish I could have gotten his liscense, problem was he was in the other lane driving in the other direction.... it just got a lucky bounce in my lane :-(
  10. The guy in the truck didn't stop or pull over. So no I don't have his information. He just kept driving. I didn't get a liscense plate or anyting because I was shielding my eyes from the glass flying into my car :-( Luckily I plan on keeping my Jeep for a long time so value isn't that important to me. I will probably keep it till it has over 150k miles and by then the value will be like $100 anyways lol My first accident... I have absolutely 0 tickets not even a warning... closest I got to a ticket is a parking ticket from Virgina Tech(on my 20th birthday too). I don't think holidays/birthdays is my day to drive :-)
  11. I am ok.... just so you know This thread is primarily for me to B**** so... feel free to not read :-) I got up this morning started driving to school. Some big rock (about a foot long) fell from a big truck (kinda like a dump truck). Bounced up and right into my windshield/frame, bounced up and into the back of my car. Again I am ok... thankfully. I am lucky I have a good feeling that rock wouldn't have stopped if it hit all windshield and not part of my frame. The truck of course didn't stop, so teh damages are on me. I called a cop and got a police incident report so hopefully the insurance will cover it all. I am mainly just worried that they are going to replace the windshield and tell me I have to live with the dent in the back of my car. I am only 21... first car accident/incident/problem whatever... so I have no freaking clue what is going to happen. My luck the insurance will go up too, even though I did nothing wrong :-( All, because this guy didn't stop or see me or whatever reason.... :-( I guess I shouldn't be upset I am not hurt afterall Anyways.... I hope everyone has a good St Patricks day... If you are going out drinking. Be careful grab a DD and drink one for me :-) I am not going out tonight.
  12. I want crimson skies.... :-( Waiting till it goes classic so I can get it for $20, I don't have $50 to spend now, just got my sub hehe
  13. I am still in college... Just turned 21 actually :-)
  14. I honestly have never heard the 5's. So I might not be the best judge. But, from what I have read I would take the 3's. I hear the 3s or the 7's are the best bang for your buck. Also be careful about picking up the RC-25 Center, the center is one of the most important speakers in your set up... and it should be in the same set or a step above the rest of your equipment. Just my 2 cents.... get others opinions they know more than me :-)
  15. Well, I figure you all would laugh once I posted my DVD player :-) glad you didn't :-) Anyways, I dunno how good of muscians we get but I did go to see a couple Jazz players at my school. Its funny how some crappy new rock band can come to my school and sell $20 tickets, then a Jazz player can come and they are giving away tickets :-( Sad... but, I will have to go check out more life performances especially since I get to go to many free ones since I am still in school. I know its not the same but, I go to Rock concerts every summer, have to catch the Allman Brothers at least twice a year :-) But, based on what everyone said I am sticking to what I have at least for another year :-) Thanks everyone maybe time for a new compuer hehe, and thanks for not laughing at my poor DVD player :-)
  16. I think everyone would agree new DVD player :-) my cheap one just isn't cutting it anymore. Then, I agree I need an amp, but I am waiting for at least a year for that.... I am broke hehe I like Wheelmans suggestions.... DVDs are much cheaper than a new amp :-) Also, where would 2 more speakers for 7.1 fall in all this mess?? Sorry... I didn't even notice my DVD player wasn't listed I am currently using a Mitsubishi DD-6040 Anyways thanks for the help everyone
  17. My DVD player was the cheapest part of my Home Theater, it was only like $100. I really like the Denon 3803, I will upgrade it, but for now it is still new. I really want to upgrade to like a B&K reciever or seperates one day.... but that probably won't be for a couple of years.... trying to slow down the home theater spending :-)
  18. "stares at the RSW-15" college dorm party.... that is the perfect chair.... LOL :-)
  19. I just bought the sub... and the power conditioner, but I already want to figure out what I should get next :-) 2 RF-7s 1 RC-7 2 RS-7s 1 RSW-15 Denon 3803 HTS3500 Monster Power Center Onkyo DXC220 6 disk CD Player Mitsubishi WS-42311 42" widescreen HDTV 1080i X-Box :-) I am thinking the DVD player needs to be replaced. What about everyone else???
  20. ---------------- Although my wife does not like the fact that I'm an audio geek, I think she puts up with it because 1)she loves me and 2)she's afraid if I had to choose....... ---------------- LMAO!!!! You can't leave your wife.... who would make dinner :-p jk of course
  21. I would have to agree.. a RSW-15 in a dorm room.... not worth it. I just got my RSW-15 and it is in a 18x16 room. It looks huge... it is a freaking coffee table :-) I dunno how big your dorm rooms are, but this room is MUCH!!! bigger than my dorm room, that I had 2 years ago. My dorm room probably was 10x12 for two people.... it sucked bad. I would suggest the promedia GMX 5.1... so you get surround sound, then when you get an appartment you can have money for some RF-7s RSW-15 or whatever, and have surround sound ont he computer and on the TV!!!
  22. With all of this talk about the wife finally appreciates or, the wife finally let me buy.... Makes me wonder already spending 7 grand on a home theater......if I will ever be able to get a wife, or even a girlfriend :-p hehe
  23. Holy @$%* two RSW-15's..... *hides in a bomb shelter* :-) nice man.... I am very very impressed.
  24. I am going to have to turn mine up. I was just about to post a question about the auto turn on. That is a good idea I will have to try it. Thx
  25. Holy crap you got $450 for that Dude, where and how did you sell it!!!!!!!! I have a 700 MHz laptop and I would really like to sell it
