  1. ~sigh~ I auditioned the Palladium P-39f back to back with the 60th anniversery edition Klipschorn. Same room, same music, same electronics, optimal placement for both pairs of speakers. I could have had a brand new pair of Klipschorns (or paid someone far more talented than I to veneer some Jubs) for a lot less money. Recall the PWK quote from Jim Garret "Some people told us they got loans to buy our speakers, we like those customers" ? I'll be paying for these for a long time. They are beautiful and sound better than anything I've ever heard. The fact that $20k for speakers just plain isn't an option for some doesn't change the overall long-term equation of "What do I want? What's the best?". Yes, everyone who's visited and met my family agrees that my wife is a saint among women. I'm as fond of the PWK legacy as anyone. As j-malotky said @my place last night, one of the amazing things PWK did is take relatively inexpensive parts off the shelf and make them into something that was a ground-breaking game changer. The Palladium engineers (Chris P and Roy D mostly?) were given a green field to build something fantastic regardless of cost. The laws of physics have not changed in 60 years, but materials development and our ability to rapidly model different behaviors and manufacture in a more precise matter has. Look what the P-39f does with far less displacement than big Heritage. I don't think it is anything negative to say (admit?) that they knocked this one out of the park.
  2. No, I got them positioned a bit better. They are too heavy to lift by myself & spikes make it hard to slide.
  3. Front speaker setup. I've got a lot of Canon raw files to tweak, more pics will be coming.
  4. An assortment of spikes, spike base plates, collars, and a bi-wiring connector. By default the low/mid/high plugs are all connected.
  5. Papers within the owner's manual packet. I've got my very own anechoic chamber measurements and an hour of break in time. Serial #3!! (This must be #3 in the US?) For those who didn't attend the pilgrimage: the various numbers for woofers and networks are some kind of "lot" system. If I someday replace a woofer or something, Klipsch would hypothetically go to their stocks and find a woofer from the same lot as mine and would therefore have the same metalurgical quirks or what have you and be a true match for my other woofers.
  6. I have just now quit listening to music. I am tired. I promise pictures tomorrow. I have around 200 photos.
  7. These boxes are huge. HUGE. I'm going to stipulate that I be burried in one...
  8. Me, my wife, and a dolly did surprisingly well.
  9. They are in Milwaukee according to freight tracking. Delivery appointment =3pm CST
  10. The famous film critic Juice Large, who's site you can find at http://www.juicelarge.com Personally, I'd be suspicious of anyone who claimed that Ghostbusters was one of man's greatest artistic achievements, but I sure do like that move. "If someone asks you if you're a god you... say... yes!"
  11. Sure, just watch this thread for the date to get nailed down.
  12. Would be cool if DrWho would come up that weekend too... No interest in the 29th so far?
  13. Was this 6hz difference experienced in rooms close to the same size? How many extra db of bass might be coming from a Belle? What extra DSP was going on in the 3ch room?
  14. Motor freight says delivery between noon and 3pm tomorrow.
  15. http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Disc_Announcements/Sony/Sony_Previews_Ghostbusters_Blu-ray_Plans_at_Comic-Con/1931 Ghostbusters, widely considered by film aficianados to be the greatest artistic achievement of man, is coming to BluRay in October.
  16. I've got insulation and such I'd rather not tear up so I don't think I'm willing to go into the walls.
  17. Madison, WI is a little over an hour from me.
  18. There is a chance that my Palladium P-39f are on a truck on their way to the soon to be frozen wastelands of Wisconsin. There is also a chance that by next weekend (August 2nd) I'll also have a P-27c keeping them company. The proposed event, for those who didn't see my last post (when I thought this was shipping in May): Right now there's very little chance you'll be able to listen to the P-39f unless you made it to a pilgrimage. The chance to play with these is pretty neat in and of itself, but wait, there's more! I'm inviting people to, within reason, bring any amp, pre- amp, transport, record player, green markers or cable elevators they would be interested in using with the P-39fs for some 2ch experimentation. If you were miffed that you didn't get to hear the P-39f with NOSvalves and a wacky record player at the pilgrimage now's your chance, you just need to convince people to bring these things to my house. World famous forum members Boomac and j-malotky live pretty near here so we might very well turn this into a nice Wisconsin Klipsch Fest. The Timing: So, I have a vacation in the middle of August. The weekend of August 2nd or August 9th might work. However, word has reached my ears that two of our favorite Klipsch employees will be attending the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversery celebration in Milwaukee the weekend of August 29th and since hotels are impossible to come by they are staying with a certain forum member down the road from me. I won't reveal their names because that would be wrong. If their names rhyme with "Grey Flannon" and "Grieve Helps" I can't be blamed for the coincidences riddling the English language. Disclaimer: these guys may want nothing to do with any Klipsch-y stuff this weekend no matter how much alder planked catfish and smoked ribs I offer. Or they may be interested in enjoying some beer & music with some forum members. Who can say... If folks are interested, I'd like to shoot for the weekend of August 8/9 or August 29/30/31. The FedEx truck could be hijacked by terrorists or Wisconsin could fall into Lake Michigan but this time I think the event is actually going to happen. I am looking to gauge interest and for feedback on dates and activities.
  19. DrWho: I've got some OC panels for bass right now and I'm about to put a huge wedge in there as soon as my wife sews the covering for it, I'm not looking to diffuse bass. I have some foam in the rear that has cut down on flutter echo from my side surrounds but need more, that's a project for another day. I'm looking to diffuse the mid range hitting the ceiling and perhaps the sides of the front walls and see how it affects my soundstage after I get used to my new speakers.

    The Dark Knight

I just showed the BluRay of Batman Begins on Friday, one of my favorite movies from the past 10 years. I am going to have to find time to get out and see this! Luckily its popularity means I've probably got a few weeks before its out of the theaters?
  21. Going to be keeping track of these: http://www.klipschcorner.com/Articles.aspx?guid=01fe4b1d-655c-4dbb-bcc6-44639f59b44e
  22. Correct, I was saying the material matters since I wanted to make sure it was NOT absorbing. DrWho: I was thinking intially a couple on the side walls and then moving to the ceiling with a larger # of these.
