  6. ALK Universal Network Crossovers for Klipschorns. Theses were built under license from ALK Engineering by Greg Roberts of Volti Audio. A major step up over the stock networks. Only had a few months use from new as I bought a pair of Volti's own brand. Both are excellent. Just been sitting in a drawer for ages so time to move them on. I live in the UK looking for £350 + postage Thanks for looking. Nigel
  7. Hi Pooky, hopefully you have sourced a pair of Klipschorns. I have a pair with Volti mods which take them to another level. I have here a pair of ALK Universal crossovers for the Klipschorns built by Greg Roberts of Volti Audio under license from ALK Engineering. They are in super condition and only been used for a couple of months from new. You will need to replace the stock crossovers as these give a big step up in sound. If you are interested you can reply here or send an email to nigelj47@aol.com I can send pics of them if you like.
  8. Well, I no longer have the Lady Day amps. Unfortunately I can't afford to own more than one pair of amps at a time.I live in a an isolated spot and auditioning anything is virtually zero. This is why I rely heavily on the experiences of others. Not reviewers but music lovers like yourselves.I am not aware of any Uk made 2a3 amps, which is why I am having to look further afield. This does of course push costs up as there are shipping costs, import duties and vat to pay.Within my budget I am probably down to the Wright 3.5 or maybe the newer version of the Lady Day set up for 2a3 tubes. I am very grateful for all the help you guys (and gals?) give.
  9. Can anyone give me recommendations for a low powered set valve amp. I have tried LadyDay 300b's which I liked a lot. Then tried a Shanling sp80c (40 watts p/p) which was ok but nowhere near as involving as the 300b. Maybe a 2a3 or 45 amp is the way to go. Please can you help me decide from your own personal experiences. I will not have the chance to audition either type of amp, so will have to take the plunge. Many thanks for your opinions.
  10. Thanks for your comments. Ceiling height can be whatever I choose really. The adjacent room is 7ft9ins. I live in a Welsh farmhouse so the ceilings are lower than in modern houses. I should explain that the 20ft wall will have to have a door in it to gain access from the current living room. Haven't thought of non parallel walls. Not sure if my wife would like the idea or if the planning department would allow an unconventional shape! There is no rush, sometime during the next two years. Which is why I would like to get carefully informed and think things through properly. I would like to stay 2 channel and have never needed or wanted a subwoofer. But I am flexible and open to any ideas.
  11. I am planning on building an extension to my house. The downstairs room will be dedicated to music listening only. Two channel only as I am not into home theatre. Anyway, what are the ideal dimensions for Klipschorns to be situated in. Only going to get one shot at this and I want to get it right. I have one external measurement of 20ft to toe in with the side of the house. I can extend outwards as far as I need to.What considerations do I need to give to internal room materials for the best accoustic environment. Grateful for any advice or comments. Thanks in advance. Nigel
  12. Thanks for the information. What sort of sonic differences will I notice by making the changes you suggest?
