  1. I have a Yamaha RXZ1 that has a plethera of sound modes. All-in-all, I use DD for movies, unless on cable, then I use 8 channel. The rest seem to be a waste of time for me in that I can't really see a difference I like outside of perhaps one more. This thing has churchs, concert halls, etc...something like 40 different sound modes.

When buying it I thought "COOL", in actual use, who wants to hear anything as it sounds in a church, or concert hall.

  2. A great forum member has a pair of Verts for sale almost in my neighborhood. when looking at pictures, I just realized what "vertical" meant.....duhhh...anyhoo, I'm used to being "special" and a little "slow" so.......I want to stand these up on Horizantal, will I lose any sonic quality by doing this...............

Also, I am interested in a pair from another great forum member. I guess I could use the Vert's as sorrounds and the horizontals as mains?.....(picture me looking like Austin Powers wringing my hands)

  3. Ahhh, I see ducking the question.....I want my ladder back Fini. If you would kindly drive it back to Virginia, err, North Carolina...

BTW, Nice system! I would still love to set up a tube system one day. We lost about 1,000 sq ft of house when we sold, so space has become a premium.....however like any good male dog, I pee'd in the basement and called it mine!

  4. LOL! Michael kills me, Yea but WWYD?

Anyhoo, we just put a flat screen in the living room for the wifey, she could care LESS about sound...it was killing me but she has a nioce sofe and her 46" LCD.

Our family room inhereted my RF-7's RC'7, RF 3's, subs, my RX-Z1, AMP 5 channel amp, and Denon 2900.. We have three 2 person reclining love seats with 2 wedges that form a HUGE "U"shape seating area. This will be our/kids theater. Their now 9 and 7, so they'll grow into it.

Both of those areas had to survive WAF. I gave on the seating, and she gave on the speakers in the family room.

Now I'm finishing out the basement...NO WAF....THAT WAS THE DEALEO!

  5. The room is 16 x 21. FLOORS: I was just going to paint the outside edges and have a carpet bound to lay in the middle. I found one I like for $450 after having it bound.

CEILING: The insulation between the joists already and held in place very well by "wire". I've actually thought about the "rough" aspect of placing something in between, so, I'm considering 1/4 round placed down the length. I would have to measure every foot or so and custom cut each piece. The challenge on a ceiling is that the lowest point to the bottom of the duct work is 7' 5" from the floor. I guess I could get back a few inches if I installed the ceiling around the duct. I looked at painting it black, but need to prime it first, then perhaps paint it a flat black.

SYSTEM: So far, my current system is for the upstairs "family room", so, all I have is an Academy, forte II's, and three 250 watt amps. I'll be looking for a decent processor and decent projector. A Panny would be fine. I would prefer a 1080P, but would take a 720P.

Thanks for the info folks...this is EXACTLY the type of input I need to consider.

  6. I have had the KLF 20's and the forte II's. I like the forte's better in that they seem to be a "cleaner" sound. As for the bass, the forte II's are unreal. You would swear that a sub was connected.

Having said that, I oved my KLF-20's and wished I had them back if for nothing other than wiring them to my emerson clock radio ;)
